Busy Fall!

We have had such a busy busy fall! Ella is in the first grade and is doing so well! Her ESL teacher (who is a blessing and adores Ella) is amazed at Ella's progress and continues to advocate for Ella! Many think that because Ella struggles a bit, that she needs to be in special education! Her teacher has battled to educate those on the teaching staff that it is all language based that sometimes things need to be explain in different terms that Ella understands...there are so many words that she still doesn't know...even after 2 years...example...she doesn't understand "stack", but understands "put on top of"! Ella had NO language at all...no Mandarin or Cantonese...none at all...blank slate! So when you consider where she's at...it's simply amazing!!
Ella played soccer...and loved it! Got a little frustrated a few times just because she didnt understand the concept of the game. She got upset at her team mates taking the ball from her in drills...she didnt get it! She has started ballet...and what a ballerina she is. She so loves every bit of dancing. We have daily dance parties at the bus stop with Ella's friends Avery and Sophia. I'm not so sure where she gets her moves..but she has many!! :)
Ella and mommy got to take a princess trip to Disney with Aunt Lori and cousin Casey! She was in HEAVEN! Loved every bit of it! Something amazing happened while visiting the magic kingdom. We were watching a parade in a VERY crowded Magic Kingdom. Ella had her Cinderella dress on and looked so adorable. A Disney cast member noticed Ella and of course fell under her spell. He asked if he could arrange for Ella to have a private visit with the princesses and Mickey! He went out of his way to make this happen. How many kids can say they had Mickey, Rapunzel, Princess Aurora, and Cinderella to themselves for a half hour. She danced and laughed, while momma beamed and of course cried watching her little princess. What a magical moment!
When we returned home Ella was in the Miss Holly Pageant...where she was crowned Miss Holly Primary! She had a blast...looked confident and beautiful. I was so proud of my baby!!
We traveled to North Carolina for Thanksgiving and our family has so much to be Thankful for....we are reminded everyday with Ella's smile! Now, we prepare for Christmas...she couldn't be more excited. Each day as more and more of the house turns into a winter wonderland, Ella gets more and more excited. We just love Christmas in our family and Ella is no exception. Christmas Eve it will be two years that we have had Ella home. It's astounding how far this little wonder has come. She has touched all our lives in a wonderful way. I will never get sick of hearing her say "Guess what mom...I love you!" She is such a gift from god.

Ella's first day of soccer

Happy birthday Ella

Ella's birthday!!!!

In a few days we will celebrate my sweet daughters birthday! (she reminds me multiple times a day that it's coming!) the thought of her birthday brings my mind to a place in Jiangxi China where my angel was given life. When I think of where Ella's life began I guess mixed emotions. Part of me wants to be angry that someone could abandon this sweet child on the side of the road. A huge part of me is so grateful that she was brought into this world, that I believe, her birth mother wanted more for Ella than she could give her and gave her up.
You see I have a strong faith and believe that everything happens for a reason and it is gods will! The lord placed Ella in that orphanage for the nannies to love until we were all ready for her to dance into our lives.
I catch myself staring at my daughter and marvel at the love she has for life. She has blessed us time and time again. She loves us unconditionally and makes my heart over pour with love and happiness! The moments when she says "mom, guess what?!"....."I love you mom!!". This child may not have been born from my womb but was born from my heart....she truly is such a gift from god. In the year and half that she has been in our arms she has brought us so, so much joy and love...I truly can not imagine our family without her. She is full of love, happiness, adventure and with her the sky is truly the limit. She is going to take this opportunity at life and sail to the top! Watch out world....Once Ella Dahai Radley walks into your life...she commands your heart and will forever hold onto it!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SWEET ANGEL....THANK YOU LORD FOR MY SWEET BLESSINGS YOU HAVE GIVEN ME.

Xoxo...on happy momma!

Ella's first cruise vacation!

Maine's Sweetheart Tiny Miss

The beach in March in MAINE....unheard of!!

Goodness...it has been forever since I posted an update! Life has been so good to my family! Ella continues to smile morning to night and amaze us daily! Ella loves her gymnastics class! She has gained so much strength and coordination and she has fun doing it! In the beginning of February Ella took part in a pageant that I help run for the Pine Tree Camp. I was so proud of Ella for getting onstage all by herself! She REALLY loved it and had so much fun! Just a short year ago I couldn't get her to leave my side! This little angel has so much confidence now and it just makes my heart beam!!! At the beginning of March I held the first ever "Maine's Sweetheart" pageant to benefit the American Heart Association! Ella again took part in the pageant! She LOVES putting on "pretty dresses!" Some ask about these pageants...to make it clear they are not glitz pageants like you see on "toddlers and tiaras"...they are natural, small fundraiser events! An opportunity for girls and women to learn about community service and giving back while showing their poise, grace and confidence on stage! I firmly believe in giving these girls the opportunity to shine and have the spotlight putting their best foot forward!
So anyway....Ella participated in this event and low and behold...she won her division! She did so well! I was shocked and so proud of her! She has been having fun wearing her crown here and there at different events....a true princess!
Ella continues to make improvement at school! She is a popular girl amongst the kids...they have all just embraced her!! (how can they resist her?)
Ella loves to be pretty and constantly primping herself...oh gosh am I in for it or what? Her recent thing is she loves curly hair! So I love putting foam rollers in her hair after an evening bath! My grandma used to do this to my sisters and I!! Good memories! She has a bazillion bows and doesn't leave the house without one! She loves playing barbies...and does not like for them to have any clothes on....lol! Booty shaking is a constant these days! A teenage friend of the family taught Ella how to shake her booty and Ella is often heard and seen shaking her booty! I have to admit...it's very cute!
Big brothers Edward and Evan just adore her! They love to play fight with her! Ella tried ski school this winter on our one trip to the mountain! She cried a bit..not sure of it was she was cold, scared or upset that I left her! But she actually said the morning after that she wanted to go again! She loves the snow and being outside...although we had a mild winter with little snow! She loves riding her bike and scooter outside! She just loves being outside!! Exciting to continue to see my beautiful rose bloom! She continues to make all our hearts smile with her infectious personality and her love for life! The lord continues to bless us all!!!
