We made it to Nanchang....the birth province of our daughter.  We were sooo happy to arrive without any problems.  We met a couple at the Shanghai airport from Spain with their two adopted daughters and they were on their way to Nanchang to get a third.  I loved sitting and chatting with the mom Peril.  She was so very sweet...and then on the plane we happened to be sitting next to them....we chatted the whole way and it definately made the 2 hour flight fly by.  I am sad though....we thought we were staying at the same hotel as them...they are at the Gloria and we are at the Galactic...so last we spoke was....that we would see them at the hotel...then we met our guide Helen and she said we were at the Galactic!! :(  But the Galactic is gorgeous.....it will take some getting used to all the horns beeping outside in city.  We went shopping to a huge store...sort of like a chinese walmart....they had everything.  It was quite the experience.

We will meet our Ella tomorrow...sometime after 4pm.  She is traveling far and Helen said she would expect her around 5 even though our appointment is for 4.  Our room was all set up for a little arrival...with crib and stroller.....we are so so excited. Although.....I am thinking that she is not going to be sleeping in the crib!! I asked Helen about visiting the orphanage and it doesnt look promising.  We will see what happens....we would like to visit it...but it is a very long trip and I am not sure if it will upset Ella....having to say goodbye all over again.

After being in Nanchang for just the short time...I know that it is a very poor province and where Ella is in Taihe...it is even poorer.  I am that much more certain that we will be able to give her a better life with an abundance of love and opportunities back in the United States.

Hoping to get some sleep tonight before tomorrow!!!

  1. There is no doubt Ella will have opportunities here that she wouldn't have in China. I think that we adoptive parents are especially conscious of the "luck of the draw" in that we just happened to be born in a place and time that is prosperous and our children just happened to be born in a different place under different circumstances.

Good luck with the sleep-it's tough when you're so nervous and excited!
